A three-pronged approach to being exceptional
Our core philosophy is to deliver exceptional work, every single time. Whether we are growing our own business or working hand-in-hand with a business partner, we believe in exceeding expectations in every facet of our work.
Companies have sought our expertise and experience to help manage (and grow) their business during challenging times, such as a leadership changes or an extended group restructuring. We have had to step in almost immediately and institute necessary changes within a broken, sometimes resistant system. But, once the employees within that system find themselves operating as they should—efficiently, effortlessly—they understand the value we bring.
Recently, a client we have been working with on a product launch shared some wonderful, unsolicited feedback. Product launches involve long, late nights (often weeks of them), seemingly impossible deadlines, frequently changing client demands, and occasionally irritated team members. Yet, the challenges of a launch also provide an excellent opportunity to showcase strengths in the face of adversity. An excerpt from her e-mail:
“She has earned a great deal of admiration for her ‘grace-under-pressure’ style. She’s truly gone above and beyond in so many ways… She has been one of the most important and valued contributors to our team’s success!”
We were pleased but not completely surprised to hear this feedback because months had been spent exhibiting these three behaviors:
1. Demonstrate subject matter expertise.
First and foremost, we always first work to understand why we are called. Once we understand the business situation, we take every opportunity to tap into our deep experience to bring forward the best ideas for our clients. Part of this includes a willingness to help them become experts. From day 1, we sit in on brainstorms, review current and past projects and offer strategic recommendations that bring brands and client offerings forward.
2. Establish a rapport.
We pay careful attention to the relationships within the teams we are privileged to work with. Is the team dynamic strong or fractured? Is leadership needed or is there an experience/availability gap? We work closely with each team member to identify what they need to better function in their role and then built a framework to ensure we could continuously meet those expectations. This establishes a level of trust and rapport that we are known for at Copy & Art.
3. Provide a differentiated offering.
Our mission could be summed up in four short words - go beyond the “ask.” Our priority is to resolve the issue we are contracted to address; yet we always simultaneously consider other areas of growth. Our agency is sought after by many companies for strategic support because we go beyond copywriting and creative directing: We help mentor team members, offer strategic business recommendations, and treat the agencies’ book of business as we do our own. We often recommend ways to improve processes, offer insights beyond the expected scope, and give more whenever possible.
By demonstrating subject matter expertise, building a rapport and providing a differentiated offering, we have a consistent approach to working with our clients. In any ordinary day, we do extraordinary things.
